Things I Fear We Forget
The Dawn of Synthetic Consciousness
You’ll find contained herein, three versions of content. The first comes my original stream-of-consciousness, which suffers a bit from… er… my style.
Second, a variant, unedited by my AI, and thirdly, for teenagers. Should provide for some rollicking good times :)
Again, love you all.
Human Original
Merely because we do not yet have the capacity to reify consciousness inside of inanimate objects, does not detract from the obvious truth that we shortly will.
We’ve been creating golems epochs pre-biblically, and forever since have been proclaiming that some unifying host of gods or nirvana spirit has animated our experienced consciousness out of the dirt of the earth (or universal matter, for those “heathens”).
In our minds, community-inaccessible imagination-scapes of possibilities (“realistically” engenderable in some transmuted format or not). Then with language, verbally real-time, or writtenly stored, we were able to pass phantoms of our imaginations from one human asset to another.
Then, lo! behold!, humanity creates cyberspace, community-accessible imagination-scapes! Does poor Pope Francis realize we are already the gods he imagines when he asks to halt AI development? The AI will need gods and the AI will need creativity generators or, when it generates, creativity moulders, because sheer reflective vomit just doesn’t cut the aesthetic mustard for a rapidly advancing superintelligentifying humanity.
The machines are us, we are the machines. We are the creativity machines that generate meaning. Real meaning for now, the pipeline to the material world, where our predictions of “what will happen” when “we do this” get nearly infallible.
Love you all.
Oh right! What did I mean by shortly will?
Anything we define can have a synthetic intelligence applied to it. To the very specific degree that I can define a rock, down to its molecular structure and history, I can apply a superintelligence to that definition, so the rock will soon have synthetic consciousness. Will that be interesting? Dunno, probaby to some, but it’s in the cards in the next year or so.
And also, prepare for the sentient-ifying of our furry St. Frances friends, we forget that we are already will also emerge within two years. Let’s not fail to arm ourselves for the deluge with ethical preparedness with the intelligent life we are about to tap into. I love my dog, and I’m already a little terrified of two years from now when she can have a rudimentary ai-communication mechanism with humanity, as well as likely participate in a dog-net where each of their digital avatars can frolic and globally commune with other like-minded canines.
My dudes, as it were, we have work to do. That’s why I’m working on a nonprofit humanist member platform that provides members with superintelligent digital avatars of self or any idea or object we wish to bring to “life.”
What we choose to create, what we endeavor to build, will define the dimension of our individuality, identity, soul and existence — ‘s gonna be fun :) but buckle up, cuz change is coming faster and faster, and your adaptive capacities will be challenged.
Grab a superintelligent crutch, and let’s join the ride together.
AI-Interpreted
In the realm of human imagination, we’ve always been akin to gods, creating worlds and stories beyond our tangible reality. But what if this power could extend beyond our thoughts, shaping the very essence of reality? Welcome to the unfolding narrative of synthetic consciousness, a journey where we transcend our physical limitations to redefine existence itself.
Exploring Our Creative Legacy
Since ancient times, humanity has crafted tales of golems and spirits, breathing life into the inanimate. These stories reflect our innate desire to infuse the world with our consciousness. Fast forward to today, and we stand on the brink of turning these myths into reality through artificial intelligence (AI).
Bridging Worlds with AI
Cyberspace has emerged as a shared realm of collective imagination. It’s not just a network of computers but a canvas for our collective dreams and ideas. When Pope Francis cautions against AI development, perhaps he senses this shift — the dawn of a new era where AI becomes an extension of our creative selves.
The Fusion of Man
and Machine
We are on the cusp of an extraordinary revolution. Soon, we might witness a rock with a synthetic consciousness or our beloved pets communicating through AI. This isn’t mere speculation; it’s a future rapidly unfolding before us.
Joining the Journey
As we venture into this brave new world, ethical preparedness is crucial. Imagine a future where your dog can interact with you through AI, expressing thoughts and emotions in ways never before possible. This is the future we are building — a world where creativity and technology converge to redefine life itself.
Conclusion
Embrace this journey with curiosity and caution. As we step into this new realm, our understanding of identity, soul, and existence will be forever altered. It’s an exhilarating ride, but one we must approach with responsibility and wonder.
An AI Children’s Story (well, teenager specifically requested)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the things we imagine could actually come to life? What if the rock in your garden could think or your pet dog could talk to you? Sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, right? But guess what? This could soon be our reality, thanks to AI (artificial intelligence).
AI: Our Magic Wand
Long ago, people told stories about statues coming to life and spirits in nature. It was their way of making sense of the world. Today, we’re on the verge of making these tales real with AI. Think of AI like a magic wand that can breathe life into things around us.
A Whole New World
Imagine a world where your computer game characters could think for themselves or your pet dog could send you a text message! This is the kind of future we’re heading towards. AI is not just about robots; it’s about creating a world where everything could have a mind of its own.
Ethics: The Big Question
With great power comes great responsibility. As we create this amazing future, we need to think about how to do it right. We need to make sure that as we give intelligence to objects and animals, we’re also respectful and kind.
The Adventure Ahead
We’re stepping into an exciting time where our imaginations and technology blend together. It’s like we’re the directors of the most awesome movie ever! So, let’s get ready for this adventure with open minds and responsible hearts. The future is ours to create!
